Danielle Simon

Pledged: Spring 2003

Graduated: Fall 2006

I am a teacher at Battle Creek Head Start in St. Paul. I work with 3-5 year old children…by the end of the day I usually want to pull my hair out! I live in an apartment in Inver Grove Heights with one of my best friends, but living away from Duluth and my Posse- Sarah, Kari, and Jen- is very hard for me. My boyfriend is Ben Close the current TKE President and our previous sweetheart from 2006. We have been together for a little over two years. Other stuff about me I,m pretty much boring! I work, come home, sleep, and then go to work again.

Best GSS memory:

I have way too many, it’s hard to choose just one. I really enjoyed Sig dinners. It was a nice time to just sit with the girls, talk, and pig out! It was a great time to get to know each other better. My other favorite memory is banquet. I LOVE BANQUET! It is always a good time! I love spending entire weekend with my girls and with my guy. always a good time! Hehe!

Outside of work I am still very close with a couple girls from GSS and keep in contact
with many others. I love to read, cook, watch movies, and still get out to dance with my
girlies! :)

amazing! All the friendships, all the mixers, all those damn greenies - it's honestly

Best GSS Memory: My activation. Activation night still gets me
teary-eyed because it's such a bonding experience and I still feel so

Kristin Wahlund

Pledged Fall 2002; Graduated Spring 2007

Positions held:
02 Pledge Class President
03/04 Safewalk Coordinator
04/05 National Representative
04/05 Corresponding Secretary
05/06 Public Relations Director
06/07 Alumni Liaison
06/07 Website

Right now I am student teaching in St. Paul at EXPO Elementary in a 3/4
class. I recently moved to Minneapolis with my friend Nick and we a have a
cute 2 bedroom apartment in a nice neighborhood. I'm writing this at
Starbucks in our neighborhood! So I still watch too many movies, and work on
things for my class. I am teaching a really fun human body unit and reading
books about the holocaust with my students.

My best GSS memory... hmm. I think my favorite memory (besides activation)
is when my big sis, Jessica Thelen, Lysa Hambley, Cory Vandenberge, and I
dressed up as ghetto barbie and ghetto pimp ken for a mixer. That was one of
my favorite costumes ever.

Name:Kari Billman

A little about your life now: I am still finishing up a few classes that I had incomplete in from last year, even though I am graduated according to UMD. So, guess what?!?? I am still a broke "college student."? Other than that, I am working for my family at Billman Home Center as a interior design consultant, specializing in plumbing and lighting.? However, I am expanding my interests and I actually have designed my first kitchen. Sounds stupid, I know; but it's exciting for me! I still live with my
boyfriend (of over 6 years) and my two dogs, but we moved into a three bedroom house this last December. I absolutely LOVE living in a house- and if anyone is looking for a place to stay when they are visiting Duluth, let me know! :)

-best Gss memory: Oh dear God, this is a tough one. I can't possibly narrow my couple years down into one memory that I cherish the most.Of course, banquets were pretty nice(especially when Dee and I almost flew through a window imitating Mr. Peepers), service projects were so much fun (the Soup Kitchen and Grandma's Marathon were my favorites),and being pledgemom, I couldn't get away with not saying that activation and pledgemeetings were the greatest (which they were!? Activating 40 pledges was such a wonderful feeling...I love all of my babies!).? After all of that, I would have to say that my greatest memory would have to be the moment that I realized how in a sisterhood, you are never alone. You never have to do or face anything alone if you don't want to-whether it be attending your Grandfather's funeral (thank you so much Deneice and Tarna)or packing to move (did I mention that big sisters are the greatest Thanks Tarna), not feeling well (thanks to Dr. Olive), or just plain having a crappy day/want to watch a movie/want to get Chinese (the Posse sure comes in handy for that- I heart you all). I love all of my sisters...all of the girls that I have met over the years thanks to GSS...and I am sure that all of you alumni know the feeling that I am talking about.?Best of luck in the world to all of you, and here's to new members learning what makes GSS the best sorority in the world-SISTERHOOD and all of the things that come with it!(and yes, that means rushing out to the freeway when a sister has run out of gas! :) ).
